It's not that hard to create an outdoor space that you can't wait to get back to. Inspired by these photos, I've put together a fairly inexpensive list of items that you could purchase to create the same look. This Plantation bench would surely need to stay undercover (a canopy from Target does the trick), but will certainly become the focal point of your seating area. (Bring in just one unique piece of furniture into the mix, and you can help break up that matchy-matchy look you get from purchasing a furniture grouping.) Ground your seating area with an indoor/outdoor rug like one of these. Look for outdoor friendly lamps (see below), and add additional privacy and/or filter lighting with bamboo shades (see below). Top it all off with a fabulous light fixture, or better yet, create your own by attaching an attractive flat-bottomed basket (inverted and cut) over a hanging light kit and voila! A beautiful room - outdoors.
